The mission of DCR’s Virginia State Parks Youth Corps (VSPYC) is to engage Virginia’s youth in a structured program of important conservation and park projects on public lands while providing learning that fosters teamwork, self-esteem, social responsibility and respect for the environment.

A summer program for youth 14-17 to work 3 weeks in a state park on natural resource projects and have fun in a state park setting. Two programs - a competitively selected overnight program and a day program for at risk youth that involves partnering organizations. State funding deficits may threaten this worthwhile program without sponsoring organizations.
